How Yoohoo.Guru keeps you safe in Phase 1
We're building Yoohoo.Guru to be the safest way to find local help. During Phase 1, we use a combination of verification, escrow payments, two-sided reviews, and a strict prohibited-category list to keep our community safe.
Phase 1 Disclosure: We're launching without background checks. This means you should use your own judgment when meeting someone new. Read this entire page before posting or applying.
What we verify
Every member confirms their email address before they can post or apply.
Every member confirms their phone number via SMS code.
Gurus who want to get paid must complete Stripe's identity verification (name, DOB, SSN last 4, bank account).
What we don't verify yet
During Phase 1, we do not perform:
This is the trust trade-off we're making to launch quickly and affordably. Our prohibited-category list, two-sided review system, and reputation tracking are how we keep things safe during Phase 1.
Prohibited categories — never on Yoohoo.Guru
These categories are strictly prohibited on Yoohoo.Guru, now and in the future:
- Any work involving children or minors
- Any work involving vulnerable adults
- Medical, nursing, or healthcare services
- Work requiring professional licenses (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, legal, financial)
- Any work where the Poster or Guru would be alone with a minor
- Transportation of minors
- Adult services of any kind
- Anything illegal

Before you post or apply
Use common sense and protect yourself:
- Review the Guru's or Poster's profile, ratings, and reviews
- Communicate through the Yoohoo.Guru app — we keep records
- Meet in a public place first if you're uncomfortable
- Tell someone where you're going and when you'll be back
- Trust your instincts — if something feels off, cancel
- Never pay or accept payment outside of Yoohoo.Guru
- Report any suspicious behavior immediately
If something feels off
Your safety is more important than completing any job. If something feels wrong:
- Leave the situation immediately
- Call 911 if you feel unsafe
- Report the incident to Yoohoo.Guru within 24 hours
- Document everything you can (screenshots, photos, notes)
We take every report seriously and will investigate promptly.
